LG G6 Smartphone Getting Side-by-Side FullVision Display

The 5.7-inch quad-HD smartphone screen on the LG G6 will let users view videos in one half while using a web browser in the other half.
LG's upcoming G6 smartphone will feature a new Full Vision display design that will let users watch videos while also perusing content with a web browser at the same time using different sections of its 5.7-inch quad-HD screen.
The new Full Vision display will have a 2,880 x 1,440 screen resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio and an edge-to-edge display that essentially fills the front of the smartphone, according to a Feb. 16 announcement by LG. The dual-use screen capabilities are aimed at giving users more flexibility to consume mobile content on their devices.
The LG G6 smartphone is slated to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona on Feb. 26, according to LG. Also highlighting the new handset will be LG's UX 6.0 user interface, which uses two square display windows that can run side-by-side or top-to-bottom to provide the Full Vision experience. Users will also be able to choose to use different sections of the display for e-book reading and other tasks.
The LG G6 cameras will also gain new user features through the device's latest UX 6.0 interface, including the ability to capture and review photos at the same time using different sections of the screen, according to LG. A new Food Mode for capturing images is also included which will provide high color quality and saturation levels to better capture photos of food. Users will also be able to create GIF files by combining two to 100 pictures in an endless loop through the new UX.
Through the Full Vision display, users of the LG G6 will be able to be on a phone call on one section of the display while also viewing a calendar app in another section, or look through the photo gallery while also perusing the messaging app, for example, according to LG.
"The LG G6 with Full Vision was inspired by the philosophy of experts in the movie industry who believe that an 18:9 ratio screen would be the best solution for viewing both old and new cinematic content in the digital age," Juno Cho, president of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Co., said in a statement. "We've not only embraced that philosophy in our newest smartphone but taken it to a whole new level by incorporating the 18:9 format in many other ways. I think users will appreciate the many ways we've made the LG G6 more productive."
Previously LG recently teased that its new G6 flagship smartphone will also include a sleek, full-metal body, a waterproof design, a state-of-the-art fingerprint scanner and other premium handset features. Complete details about the processor, memory and other specifications of the upcoming G6 smartphone are expected to be revealed when the phone is officially announced.
The predecessor to the G6, LG's earlier G5 premium smartphone, was launched at Mobile World Congress in February 2016 and included an all-metal body, a 5.3-inch quad HD IPS display and a modular design that worked with a line of attachments and accessories that attached to the phone to bring virtual reality capabilities and more to users. The G5 featured a Qualcomm 820 octa-core processor, 4GB of memory, 32GB of on-board storage and a micro SD slot for expanded storage up to 200GB. The G5 also had one SIM card slot, dual rear cameras—a 16-megapixel camera with a 78-degree field of view and an 8MP wide-angle camera with a 135-degree field of view—and an 8MP front-facing camera, and an embedded battery with another 1,100mAh of power for extended use.

A slide Karagounis showed during the session -- which was webcast from Microsoft's Channel 9 website included another upgrade this year after Creators as you can see it in below image. It lacked a release date and a more descriptive name other than "Second Update in 2017" . The timeline doesn’t include dates, but it does show that work on the second update should already be well under way, and public testing should start shortly after the release of Windows 10 Creators Update .
