Facebook -owned WhatsApp that has revolutionized the way people exchanged messages, boasts over 200 million monthly active users in India . Digital Payments Industry To Hit $500 Billion By 2020 In India

Digital payments industry in India is expected to reach $500 billion by 2020 , with over 50 percent of internet users in the country will be using it, according to a latest report by global telecom body GSM Association and Boston Consulting Group . " BCG projects that more than 50 percent of India’s Internet users will use digital payments by 2020. Bharti Airtel buys Telenor's India operations

Telenor ASA has on 23 February 2017 entered into a definitive agreement with Bharti Airtel Limited (Airtel), whereby Airtel will take full ownership of Telenor India. The move forced rivals -- desperate to maintain market share -- to slash their tariffs and scrambling to match the deep pockets of Jio, which is backed by Ambani's vast energy-to-chemicals conglomerate Reliance Industries . Microsoft Launches 'Made For India' Skype Lite App

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella took the stage in Mumbai and announced a new version of Skype at the Future Decoded conference. This new version of Skype which has been dubbed Skype Lite has been specifically made for India and Microsoft's primary target audience are people who use low or mid range Android smartphones instead of users with high-end iOS and Android smartphones. In the words of Microsoft's Eugene Ho ,  " It is a new version of Skype made for India , developed by the development centre Microsoft has in Hyderabad . " Skype Lite at launch will only be available in India for Android smartphones. Indian IoT market value to touch $9 billion by 2020

Internet of Things (IoT) units in India are expected to see a rapid 31-fold growth to reach 1.9 billion by 2020 , Deloitte predicted on Monday, adding that the market value of IoT is expected to reach $9 billion by 2020 . IoT refers to the devices, other than computers and smartphones, connected to the Internet. Deloitte estimates the current number of such devices in the country to be around 60 million . " With advances in reliability , accuracy and technology of advance tech measures such as biometric authentication , digitization will gain popularity in various business applications, " the company said in a statement.
